The Newcomers Club of New Canaan was founded in 1957 by Marnee Raymond to help residents become acquainted with their community. It is the oldest club of its kind in the country and one of the largest, featuring a wide variety of activities and events. The Newcomers Club seeks to promote friendship among new residents by arranging special events, programs, activities and a minimum of one yearly fundraiser to provide donations to not-for-profit organizations.
There is truly something for everyone…in the early days there was bird watching and badminton, now we have ladies shopping events and paddle tennis!
Our Mission Statement
The Newcomers Club of New Canaan is a social organization dedicated to making the transition to life in New Canaan easier by providing opportunities for new friendships to be formed through activities with others who have similar interests.
The Newcomers Club of New Canaan is run by a Board of Directors in accordance with its by-laws. The Board is led by a President and has approximately 35 members. Each board member has a specific set of responsibilities and holds his or her position for one year with the exception of select Vice President positions which are two years. During the spring of each year a new board is elected and approved for the Club’s fiscal year (July – June). Anyone interested in joining the board should contact a current board member in January to be nominated for a position.

The Newcomers Club of New Canaan updated and approved the Newcomers By-Laws during the October 5, 2014 board meeting.
