Board Nominations
We are accepting nominations for next year’s Newcomers leaders NOW!
Do you have a special skill that you would like to share with the Newcomers Club? Do you have a friend who would be “just perfect”? We are now looking for the next generation of Newcomers volunteers!
The Newcomers Club Board consists of approximately 35 volunteers who offer their time and expertise in creating a welcoming atmosphere for all. We hope you will join us! We invite all Club members to submit names for nomination – self-nomination is recommended and highly encouraged! Nominations are due by February 17, 2012.

2012 BOARD POSITIONS
President - Oversees all Club business, acts as liaison to the community, provides support to all Board members, sets meeting agendas and conducts monthly Board meetings, and attends hospitality coffees/events. In a non-House Tour year, in conjunction with the Vice President of Ways & Means, President shall select the House Tour Chair and assist in selecting Steering Committee members by the beginning of the House Tour year.
Membership - This committee consists of a Vice President who works with one to two co-chairs to help identify and assimilate new members into the Club as they move to town. Communicates with new members, maintains club database, processes applications, assigns mentors, and publishes the Club's annual Directory of Members.
Social - This committee consists of Vice President(s) who work with 6 co-chairs to plan, market, and oversee adult Social events for the Club, including the annual Fall Kick-Off Celebration, Holiday Party, Spring Party, and smaller monthly events.
Ways & Means – In a non-House Tour year, this committee consists of a Vice President with 1 co-chair who shall organize and review House Tour materials, update House Tour By-laws, begin fundraising efforts for following House Tour, and, in conjunction with President, shall assist in selecting the House Tour Chair and Steering Committee members by the beginning of the House Tour year.
Children's Activities – This committee consists of Vice President(s) who work with 8 co-chairs to plan family and children's events and coordinate playgroups. The Children’s Activities Committee holds their own monthly meetings at a time and place decided by the Vice Presidents of Children’s Activities.
Communications - This committee consists of a Vice President who works with 3 co-chairs to maintain the Club website, send e-mail communications, manage online advertising, and publicize all upcoming Club events. This team also strategizes ways to improve the website and internal Club communications.
Secretary - Responsible for monthly Board meeting minutes and Sunshine Needs (cards, flowers, etc.); assists President in reviewing and updating Insurance and other official documents of the Club.
Treasurer - Responsible for Club finances including banking, expense reimbursement, annual budget preparation, and tracking of expenses; provides guidance to House Tour Treasurer; acts as liaison to Club tax accountant and Insurance agent. This position is generally held for two years.
Activities - Two co-chairs staff and oversee all activity groups by coordinating dates and collecting information to submit to the Club website; provide guidance to activity groups regarding Insurance and other Club policies. They are also responsible for assisting members in the start-up of new activities.
Community Concerns - Serves as liaison to local charitable organizations. In a House Tour year, responsible for the Club's grant process, and, in conjunction with Ways & Means Committee, distributes funds raised for the charitable giving fund. In non House Tour year, shall mail Grantee follow-up letters and assist Communications in any grant-related publicity. This position is generally held for two years.
Hospitality - Two to three co-chairs organize and invite new and prospective members to hospitality coffees/events. This committee works closely with the Membership team; positions are generally reserved for fourth year members, as they are most knowledgeable about the Club.
