Charitable
Events
Through the Ways and Means committee, the Newcomers Club of New Canaan,
Inc. raises funds throughout the year to support local charities. This
committee’s role involves planning and hosting small and large fundraising
events. These events have generated hundreds of thousands of dollars over
the years ($51K last year), and have helped us support local charities
such as the Red Cross, Waveny Care Network, ABC Inc., Domestic Violence
Crisis Center, and Kids in Crisis Inc., to name few.
Many of these events have become a tradition. Among them, the bi-annual
Holiday House Tour (the club’s major fundraising event), which gives members
and non-members a chance to walk through some of the finest and most interesting
homes in New Canaan. These homes are decorated for the holiday season
by volunteer designers and their committees based on a chosen theme to
reflect the spirit of the season.
On a smaller scale, Ways and Means also plans and executes the in-town
shopping nights. They are not only a great way of raising funds, but also
help support our local economy by encouraging our members to shop in New
Canaan.
These are only few of the activities planned by the Ways and Means Committee.
Be sure to stay posted to our website to learn more about the fun and
exciting events throughout the year that support our community and provide
a way for you to get out and meet your fellow Newcomers!
