TOWN UNITES FOR HOUSE TOUR
NEWCOMERS’ HOLIDAY HOUSE TOUR COMMITTEE WORKS TO BRING OUR COMMUNITY TOGETHER
June 17, 2009
NEW CANAAN, CT - While most people are thinking about their summer vacations, the Newcomers Club has already begun planning this year’s “Homes for the Holidays” House Tour, which will take place on December 4th. All proceeds raised from the event will be distributed to local charities.
The tour will feature five spectacular New Canaan homes, each decorated in a different holiday theme created by a local designer, with help from a team of volunteers. “This year we’re focused on providing exposure for our local merchants and corporate sponsors,” says Kendall Sneddon, chairman of the event. “We want to help keep our community vibrant and strong by supporting local businesses while also raising money for worthy charities at a time when they need us most.” More than simply a feast for the eyes, Sneddon, along with club president Carolyn Hudkins and co-chairs Amy Fields, Megan Wunderlich, and Suzanne Pertuseillo, have come up with numerous ways to entertain attendees. “We are designing this event to be an interactive and highly enjoyable experience,” Sneddon says. “We plan to stimulate all the senses in order to surprise and delight.”
Tickets to the House Tour will be available online and in local stores by the end of the summer. Several committees are already working on the event and volunteers are welcome to join at any time. If you are interested in volunteering or becoming a corporate sponsor, please contact Kendall Sneddon at holiday_house_tour@yahoo.com. Donations can be sent to Colleen Maruster, event treasurer, at 26 Gerdes Road.
